HandsUp.............I have a gun behind you

Noting down the events like Richard Gere kissing Shilpa shetty, jailing an art student for having painted nude pictures; it seems people are getting more and more polarized in terms of religion, caste and region. This I believe is a recent identification problem with in India due to the country’s growth engine which is accelerating year after year.. The liberal and rational mind has taken a backseat owing to the vast number of people trying to gain acceptance due to identity crisis.

The number of Television channels in India has grown so rapidly that lot of information floats around which unfortunately people are made to breathe. Also this has created a series competition to decide on what is news? The result of people trying to be creative is more often reflected on the moral front. Media knows that Sex is a kind of taboo and that with the world’s largest growing population being interested in the same needs to reconfirm that we are different and that the Indians have a culture. Modesty of a woman has been the forefront in these campaigns.

Morality is something that is a by product of religion and with the mixtures of religion that we find in India it is strongly advised that all acts as to be very cautious. Hence I could coin that the branding of religion is one thing that has become a part of 60 yr old India. The point is simple. If Muslims are passionate about their religion which they marketed well during the Prophet Cartoon controversy Hindus do not want to be left behind. They took to the paintings of Husain and now on a student who wants to announce that he has arrived. Even christians are not left far behind as was evident in the DaVinci Code protests.

I had a look at paintings in what can be called a fanatic site of Hindu Jagaran Samathi(http://www.hindujagruti.org/). Except for a painting that depicts Hanuman carrying Sita in the tail almost all pictures were in acceptable standards. Their version is why Prophet Mohammed is not drawn like that and that most of temples in India never show their deities as naked and only exception probably would be Mother Kaali who is semi naked. My curiosity was to check on the Khajuraho and Ajanta paintings. After going through most of sites that I felt genuine, I feel the pictures depict human figures and not the Gods. The identity crisis is for an individual who believes in supernatural power, is that it exists in one or many planes higher than what he is. Hence he feels that his mind which is prone to desires cannot accept all the truths that formed in him due to the inability to ask questions.

Now with floodgates open in the form of information there is confusion everywhere. There are experiences you can know just by sitting in the house. Indian think tank in the 1950’s were trying to protect his people from change and trying to give them a routine life. This was like a parent trying to protect his kids. Genuinely the kids should grow and protect the parent. The parents turned old and kids did not have freedom and neither could they protect them. The kids had some kind of formal training and when he went out this somewhat helped him initially. Now the kid is confused as what to give back and his notion about the world has changed all of a sudden. He knows his parent is a looser and constantly irritates because he tried to protect him and never prepared for the world. Those who were protected remained in their domain and they never liked their fellow brothers who has ventured out.

The guys who stayed in finally became the guys without identity. They have to find an identity which eventually turned out to be religion, sect and caste. Fact is that they still need security. Hence what they felt is that the guys who went out did not help them. In one way they want to be protected. In effect morality, love, brotherhood, team work, reservation was all preached. The best way was to tell like this. “Please move the stone and we will be in the comfortable zone”. In one way the philosophy of the guys who moved the stone was that they will be making the rules. Hence each group tried to fight with each other. For one the weapon was money and the other it was the group they belong to.

The prayer is simple. “Hey God I will dress you in clothes, give you beautiful, dignified wives. I will respect you. Give me a girl like Shilpa Shetty; give me some talent to attract beautiful girls. Please make me feel the comfort. Let me get food for free and let me sleep with beautiful woman. Till I get all this I will not allow anybody else to have this”.
